Insurance

Talk about excitement - we got a library card today. But really it is exciting b/c we had to get a library card in order to use their printer so we could get new car insurance! Okay, boring.

The sickening / exciting thing for us is that we are now saving over $2,000.00 a year in car insurance. WTF? We are paying less for an entire year of car insurance here in NC than 6 months of coverage in LA. Why? I mean, I'm happy, I'm not complaining, but why is it so expensive in Louisiana?

Hello!
Did anyone else think that was Nick (Hand) in the picture next to Brandi? After I clicked on it, I realized it wasn't, but now I can't figure out who it is. Brandi, what did you do with Paw Paw?

For those of you who didn't know, Ashville not only makes people look younger, it also makes them happier. According to last night's episode of 20/20, it's the happiest place in the United States. That's right, the episode was on "Happiness," and they went all over the world, Singapore, India, Denmark, you name it. And when they came home to the U.S., it was to show beautiful shots of Ashville, N.C., "the happiest place in the U.S." In one of the segments was footage of a vivacious young couple (apparently new transplants to the area) hiking jauntily through the countryside and returning to a cute little rental house where they are living with fifteen animals while deciding whether to get jobs before it's time to retire. No wonder they're happy! (The first part of this is true.)

On an unrelated subject, Sarah and I watched "This Is England" last night, a movie set in, guess where?, in the year 1984. I won't say more about the story, because I think if I tell what it's about I will put people off, and I don't want to do that because it was excellent and everyone should Netflix it. Brit or not. Anyway, the movie did an excellent job of evoking the time period with candy, board games, TV shows, etc. that were around in England in 1984, when I was 11; consequently, I was falling out in fits of mind-bending nostalgic deja vu, and getting funny looks from Sarah. Afterwards I was talking to Sarah (or myself?) about some obscure bit of 80's brit culture (or something) that was in the movie and saying "I'll have to show that to Tom." Then I realized I couldn't and got pretty sad.

Miss you.

Welcome to the wonderful-world-of-blogging, Brandi!! And hello to Tom -- you don't know me, but I, too, think you look great without a beard :)

Congrats to you both on the move and the library card and looking deleriously happy...

And thank YOU, Brandi, for all of your SUPPORTIVE words of encouragement while I found my way across the country to my 'new start' in P-Town. Man, all of these changes, huh? Crazy...

Be well, stay in touch and remember that feeling of 'home' may take some time but it WILL happen!!

Love you, B!

about insurance, it's called driving while intoxicated, until our lawmakers&people decide to close all the loopholes an special deals I&my fellow states-person will pay Thur the nose. I think for first offence lose license for 3months no hardship, second offence off with your head.no excuse for this.love PaPaBear
